Featured here is an actual surviving classic Bollywood film poster of the cult 2001 Hindi movie written and directed by Karan Johar that featured the “King of Bollywood,” superstar Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role opposite actress Kajol.

Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001) also starred the greatest actor in Indian cinema, superstar Amitabh Bachchan along with Jaya Bhaduri Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor in prominent roles. Alok Nath, Farida Jalal, Johnny Lever, Jugal Hansraj, Achala Sachdev, Simone Singh, Sushma Seth, Himani Shivpuri and Shashikala played supporting roles in this classic Bollywood family drama.

Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (sometimes also abbreviated as KKKG or K3G) holds the distinction of being the first Indian film to be given a theatrical release in Germany. The film was a massive success at the box office, breaking all opening records upon its release.

K3G bagged five Filmfare Awards and is counted as one of the highest grossing Indian films in the overseas market, making this old KKKG poster, highly collectible!

Printed and circulated to celebrate the record silver jubilee run of the film (somewhere in 2002), this Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham poster was originally designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.

The three lead couples, i.e. Hrithik Roshan & Kareena Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan & Jaya Bhaduri Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan & Kajol are seen in stunning still photos prominently in this KKKG poster. The entire family is seen together with their respective partners, giving away the family drama theme of the film.

Typography used in this original KKKG poster is entirely in English. The title of the film appears at the bottom in an embossed font in gold. A quotation from Karan Johar at the bottom of this Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham poster reads, “It’s all about loving your parents.”

The film’s record breaking silver jubilee run at the box office is celebrated with the words “Silver Jubilee” written at the top as well as “25 Weeks” appearing prominently at the center.
