Kashmir Ki Kali was the first Hindi film to star Sharmila Tagore, marking her Bollywood debut, making this rare Bollywood poster, highly collectible!
Printed and circulated during the release of the film in theaters (somewhere in the 1960s), this vintage Kashmir Ki Kali poster was made for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
This old Bollywood poster was originally designed in hand painted oil on canvas format by artist Manohar Suresh. His printed signature is seen on the bottom right of this Kashmir Ki Kali poster. Shammi Kapoor is seen with his arms outstretched in a dancing pose at the bottom, while Sharmila Tagore is seen wearing a traditional Kashmiri dress on the top. A side profile of Pran is seen at the bottom of this superbly illustrated Kashmir Ki Kali poster.
A house boat is seen in the background. The typography used in this poster is completely in English, with a translation of the title appearing in Devanagari Hindi at the bottom.
Kashmir Ki Kali’s memorable music was composed by legendary music composer O.P. Nayyar. Chartbusters from the film like “Yeh Chand Sa Roshan Chehra,” “Deewana Hua Badal, Sawan Ki Ghata Chhayi” and “Kisi Na Kisi Se, Kabhi Na Kabhi, Kahin Na Kahin” sung by Mohammed Rafi are regarded as timeless classics and played till today.
