Khoon Bhari Maang poster for sale.
This is an actual surviving original Bollywood poster of the super hit 1988 Hindi action film produced and directed by Rakesh Roshan that starred Rekha and Kabir Bedi in key roles.
Sonu Walia, Shatrughan Sinha, Kader Khan, Rakesh Roshan, Saeed Jaffrey, Sulochana Latkar, Tom Alter, Shubha Khote and A. K. Hangal played supporting roles in this revenge thriller. Kader Khan wrote the dialogues of this memorable classic.
A powerful woman-centric film, Khoon Bhari Maang (1988) is believed to be inspired from the Australian mini-series, Return to Eden (1983). For her stellar performance in Khoon Bhari Maang (1988), Rekha won Best Actress award at the 34th Filmfare Awards, making this original Bollywood poster, highly collectible!
Printed and circulated during the first release of the film in theaters (somewhere in 1988), this Rekha poster was designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
This Khoon Bhari Maang poster was originally designed using photographic collage techniques by a Bollywood poster design studio in Bombay called Tulika.
A large still photo of actress Rekha in a glamorous close up is seen on the top. She appears again below holding a double barreled rifle in her gloved hands. Actor Kabir Bedi is seen covered in blood being mauled by a crocodile alongside. He is seen in another still photo at the bottom with actress Sonu Walia in swimming gear in this Khoon Bhari Maang poster.
Typography used in this Rekha movie poster is entirely in English, with only a translation of the title seen in Devanagari Hindi on the top. Both titles contain a silhouette of protagonist Rekha with blood dripping from her forehead peeking out from behind the lettering. The English title at the bottom appears in blood red, while the Devanaagri Hindi title is seen in yellow on the top.
The soundtrack album of Khoon Bhari Maang (1988) was composed by Rajesh Roshan and contained the memorable song, “Hanste Hanste Kat Jaye Raste” sung by Nitin Mukesh and Sadhana Sargam.
The film’s popularity led to subsequent regional remakes: Gowthami (1987) in Telugu, Thendral Sudum (1989) in Tamil, Jwala (1993) in Kannada and Nari Bi Pindhipare Rakta Sindura (1997) in Odia.
