Successful movie posters for sale: Lakhon Me Ek (1971).
This is an actual surviving original vintage Bollywood poster of the old 1971 Hindi comedy directed by S.S. Balan that starred Mehmood and Pran in key roles.
Released under the Gemini Pictures banner, Lakhon Me Ek (1971) also starred Ramesh Deo, Nazir Hussain, Mohan Choti, Keshto Mukherjee, David, Mukri, Kanhaiyalal, Jalal Agha, Viju Khote, Aruna Irani, Lalita Pawar, Shubha Khote, Sulochana Chatterjee and Radha Saluja in supporting roles. Madan Puri made a special appearance, while Radha Saluja made her debut in the film.
Printed and circulated during the initial release of the film (somewhere in 1971), this old Bollywood poster was originally designed for publicity of the 6th successful week of the film in theaters but never ended up being used.
This successful movie poster was designed using a combination of both photographic collage as well as hand painted oil techniques by a poster art studio.
The two lead stars who play brothers in the film, Mehmood and Pran are seen in black and white photographic stills at the bottom of this Lakhon Me Ek poster. Pran appears in a large photograph while comedian Mehmood is seen in a smaller still wearing a pan on his head like a baseball cap. Actress Radha Saluja is seen in a smaller black and white still photo on the bottom left.
An announcement at the top celebrates the successful completion of a milestone sixth week run of the film in theaters.
Red and black lettering is used in this Lakhon Me Ek poster, giving it an eye catchy appearance. Typography used in this vintage Bollywood poster is primarily in Devanagari Hindi, with a translation of the title seen in English as well.
The soundtrack album of Lakhon Me Ek (1971) was composed by one of the greatest music composers in Indian cinema, R. D. Burman. It featured the memorable classic, “Chanda O Chanda” sung by both Lata Mangeshkar and Kishore Kumar.
A hilarious song from the film, “Mere Samnewale Kamre Mein Ek Bhade Ka Tattoo Rehta Hai” sung by Asha Bhosle and Manna Dey was a spoof on R. D. Burman’s all time greatest hit, “Mere Samne Wali Khidki Mein” from Padosan (1968).
