Small movie theater posters for sale: Lakhon Me Ek (1971).
This is an actual surviving original vintage Bollywood poster of the old 1971 Hindi comedy directed by S.S. Balan that starred Mehmood and Pran in key roles.
Released under the Gemini Pictures banner, Lakhon Me Ek (1971) also starred Ramesh Deo, Nazir Hussain, Mohan Choti, Keshto Mukherjee, David, Mukri, Kanhaiyalal, Jalal Agha, Viju Khote, Aruna Irani, Lalita Pawar, Shubha Khote, Sulochana Chatterjee and Radha Saluja in supporting roles. Madan Puri made a special appearance, while Radha Saluja made her debut in the film.
Printed and circulated during the initial release of the film (somewhere in 1971), this rare Bollywood poster was originally designed for publicity of the film in theaters but never ended up being used.
This small movie theater poster was designed using over painted techniques by a poster art studio in Madras.
Lead actors Mehmood and Pran, who play brothers in the film, are seen in a close up over painted portrait prominently in this vintage Bollywood poster. The two are captured in a hilarious pose, with their foreheads touching each other.
Actress Radha Saluja is seen in a smaller over painted full figure still photo at the center of this Lakhon Me Ek movie poster. The electric blue and gold shades used in her dress stand out in stark contrast against the minimal cream background.
Typography used in this vintage Bollywood poster is primarily in Devanagari Hindi, with a translation of the title seen in English and Urdu as well at the bottom. The main Devanagari Hindi title on the top is seen in a striking shade of red, with a yellow border.
The soundtrack album of Lakhon Me Ek (1971) was composed by one of the greatest music composers in Indian cinema, R. D. Burman. It featured the memorable classic, “Chanda O Chanda” sung by both Lata Mangeshkar and Kishore Kumar.
A hilarious song from the film, “Mere Samnewale Kamre Mein Ek Bhade Ka Tattoo Rehta Hai” sung by Asha Bhosle and Manna Dey was a spoof on R. D. Burman’s all time greatest hit, “Mere Samne Wali Khidki Mein” from Padosan (1968).
