Rekha photo poster for sale: Madam X (1994).
Featured here is an actual surviving old Bollywood poster of the 1994 Hindi crime drama directed by Deepak Shivdasani that starred Rekha in a double role opposite Pakistani cricketer turned actor, Mohsin Khan.
Produced by Thakur R.S., presented by Lal R.S. and released under the Nishita Productions banner, Madam X (1994) also starred Shakti Kapoor, Parikshit Sahni, Avtar Gill, Raza Murad, Jagdeep, Mac Mohan and Kiran Juneja in supporting roles. Superstar Ajay Devgn worked as an assistant director in Madam X (1994), while his father Veeru Devgan was the action director.
A “mockbuster,” Madam X (1994) coped it’s story from the Amitabh cult hit, Don (1978). Rekha played a double role in the film, portraying mafia godmother Madam X as well as an innocent lookalike called Sonu, who is planted deep within the cartel by police officer Vijay (Mohsin Khan) to impersonate Madam X and assist the police. The plan takes a turn for the worse when the real Madam X escapes from custody.
Printed and circulated during the first release of the film in theaters (somewhere in 1994), this Madam X poster was originally designed and printed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
This classic Rekha poster was originally designed in photographic collage format by noted Bollywood poster artist Boskey Prabhu based in Bombay.
Rekha is seen in a stunning photo taking aim from a pistol in a large close up that spans the entire real estate of the poster. She appears dressed in high fashion, wearing a golden outfit that is embellished with jewelry. Against a simplistic light blue background, the artwork makes a high impact and stands out.
Typography used in this Rekha photo poster is primarily in English, with the title translated to Devanagari Hindi as well at the bottom. The main English title of the film is illustrated in yellow and pink with a black border in a cinemascope 3D font.
The soundtrack album of Madam X (1994) was composed by Anu Malik, while lyrics were written by Hasrat Jaipuri and Sameer. It featured the popular song, “Kaise Dil Jeete Aap Ka” sung by Anu Malik and Alka Yagnik respectively.
