Pop art movie posters for sale: Neela Aakash (1965).
Featured here is an original vintage Bollywood poster of the old 1965 Hindi romantic drama produced and directed by Rajendra Bhatia that starred Mala Sinha and Dharmendra in lead roles as “Neela” and “Aakash” respectively.
Released under the Kiron Productions banner, Neela Aakash (1965) also featured Mehmood, Raj Mehra, Shashikala, Madan Puri, Raj Mehra, Sulochana Latkar, Mopet Raja, Sabita Chatterjee, Hari Shivdasani and Madhavi in supporting roles.
Neela Aakash (1965) told the beautiful story of an air hostess (Mala Sinha) who falls in love with a pilot (Dharmendra), while both of them are working for the same airline (Indian Airlines).
Printed and circulated subsequent to the first release of the film (somewhere in the late 1960s), this vintage Bollywood poster was issued for publicity of the film in Kolkata theaters but never ended up being used.
This Neela Aakash poster was originally designed in hand painted oil on canvas format by a Kolkata based Bollywood poster art studio and features striking illustrated artwork.
A beautiful hand drawn illustration of actress Mala Sinha shying behind a curtain is seen prominently on the left of this old Bollywood poster. A quirky animated styled portrait of actor Dharmendra is seen alongside on the right. A smaller portrait of comedian Mehmood in a pilot uniform wearing aviators is seen illustrated at the bottom in pop art movie poster style.
A stunning red background is seen behind the three portraits, while a black strip at the bottom divides the lettering area. Typography used in this Dharmendra poster is a mix of English as well as Devanagari Hindi, with the title translated to Bengali as well. The main English title appears in yellow standing our brilliantly against a black background in this pop art movie poster.
The soundtrack album of Neela Aakash (1965) was composed by Madan Mohan, while lyrics were written by Raja Mehdi Ali Khan. It featured the hit song, “Aakhri Geet Mohabbat Ka” sung by Mohammed Rafi. “Aap Ko Pyaar Chhupane Ki Buri Aadat Hai” sung by Asha Bhosle & Mohammed Rafi was another popular track from the film.
