Featured here is an actual surviving original Bhojpuri movie poster of the old 1984 film written and directed by Sujit Kumar that starred him in the lead role along with Bandini.
Produced by R.A. Singh and presented under the Shiv Bhakti Films banner, Paan Khaye Saiyan Hamar (1984) also starred Ranjeet, Yunus Parvez and S.N. Tripathi in supporting roles. Superstar Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha made guest appearances in the film.
Paan Khaye Saiyan Hamar (1984) is considered the first Bhojpuri film to feature mainstream Bollywood stars (Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha). It was also noted composer Naushad’s first Bhojpuri film, making this vintage poster, highly collectible!
Based in a rural setting, Paan Khaye Saiyan Hamar (1984) told the story of an honest and brave man called Bhola (Sujit Kumar) who is fiercely loyal towards his employer Thakur Harpal Singh (Ranjeet). An expert in stick fighting and the winner of many contests, Bhola puts his own life on the line to defend his employer Thakur from goons. Bhola is in love with paan vendor Lali and the two get married. However when Bhola asks Thakur to clear his salary and dues pending since the last 11 years of his service, he is insulted and asked to send Lali to satisfy his lust in order to justify the money owed. In a fit of rage, Bhola assaults Thakur and is arrested. The entire plan is orchestrated by Thakur and his political advisor to falsely implicate and eliminate Bhola. In prison and wanting revenge, Bhola learns that Lali is pregnant and he is about to become a father. He decides to let go of his hatred for Thakur, serve his prison term and return to his family. However, evil Thakur continues to scheme against him by spreading rumors about having an affair with his wife in his absence, making his life miserable.
Printed and circulated subsequent to the first release of the film (somewhere in the late 1980s), this old Bhojpuri film poster was printed for publicity of the film in north Indian theaters but never ended up being used.
This Paan Khaye Saiyan Hamar poster was originally hand painted on canvas by a movie poster art studio in Delhi called Rangshala Studio and features striking artwork.
A stunning illustration of superstar Amitabh Bachchan holding a stick is seen dominating this vintage movie poster. Lead couple Sujit Kumar and Bandini are seen in an illustration below. Villain Ranjeet is seen holding a rifle on the top left, while actress Rekha is seen dancing on the top right while holding a paan in her hand.
