Printed and circulated during the first release run of the film (somewhere in 1969), this vintage Bollywood movie poster was originally designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
This Pyar Hi Pyar poster was originally hand painted on canvas by a Bombay based Bollywood poster designer. A stunning illustrated close up portrait of actress Vyjayanthimala is seen prominently in the foreground. She appears dressed in pink, with her endearing smile captured perfectly by the Bollywood poster painter. Highlights in different shades of color appear over her hair.
A smaller hand painted portrait of Dharmendra wearing a green kurta is seen alongside in the background. The artwork is illustrated from the super hit song, “Main Kahin Kavi Na Ban Jaoon” sung by Mohammed Rafi.
This Vyjayanthimala poster has a simplistic dark blue background accentuated with light blue and green streaks, making the foreground stand out in contrast. Typography used in this original Bollywood poster is entirely in English, with the title appearing in yellow in handwritten font.
The soundtrack album of Pyar Hi Pyar (1969) was composed by hit duo Shankar Jaikishan and was a phenomenal success upon it’s release. Legendary playback singer Mohammed Rafi sangs all six songs in the film. The title track, “Dekha Hai Teri Aankhon Mein Pyar Hi Pyar” is fondly remembered and played till today. “Tu Mera Main Teri” sung by Asha Bhosle and Mohammed Rafi was another very popular track from the film.
