Shabana Azmi movies poster for sale: Lorie (1984).
Featured here is an actual surviving original Bollywood poster of the 1984 Hindi drama directed by Vijay Talwar that starred Shabana Azmi and Farooq Sheikh in key roles.
Written and produced by Sagar Sarhadi and released under the New Wave Producers’ banner, Lorie (1984) also starred Shabana Azmi’s mother Shaukat Azmi (credited as Shaukat Kaifi) along with Naseeruddin Shah, Swaroop Sampat, Rohini Hattangadi, Madan Puri, Kiran Vairale and Paresh Rawal in supporting roles. Baba Azmi, Shabana Azmi’s brother, was the cinematographer of Lorie (1984).
An emotionally gripping story about a young woman (essayed by Shabana Azmi) who loses her first child and is unable to have another, Lorie (1984) won critical acclaim and praise at the time of it’s release.
Printed and circulated during the first release of the film in theaters (somewhere in 1984), this Lorie poster was designed and printed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
This vintage Bollywood poster was originally designed in hand painted oil on canvas format by a leading art studio in Bombay.
A striking close up portrait of lead actress Shabana Azmi is seen illustrated at the bottom of this old Bollywood poster. The sadness and emptiness in her eyes has been captured beautifully through expert brush strokes. The artwork is set against a minimal white background, making it stand out in contrast. A statue of a woman holding her baby in her arms is seen on the top left, giving away the plot of the film.
Typography used in this Shabana Azmi movies poster is entirely in English, with the title seen in a running font in yellow.
The soundtrack album of Lorie (1984) was composed by Khayyam. It featured the memorable song, “Aaja Nindiya Aaja” sung by Lata Mangeshkar.
