Indian hand painted movie posters for sale: Pyar Ka Bandhan (1963).
This is an actual surviving original Bollywood poster of the 1963 black and white Hindi drama written, produced and directed by Naresh Saigal that starred Raaj Kumar in the lead role.
Presented by Naresh Saigal under his N.S. Films banner, Pyar Ka Bandhan (1963) also starred Nishi, Kumari Naaz, Dhumal, Indira, Helen, Johnny Walker, Kewal Kumar, Jagdish Raj, Mahendra, Rajoo, Radheyshyam, Sudesh, Asi, Hari Mehta, Munshi Munaqa and Pratima Devi in supporting roles.
The story of Pyar Ka Bandhan (1963) is summarized in the opening of the film as that of “A poor tongawala (horse carriage driver) who was an idealist.” Raaj Kumar played the role of a poor horse carriage driver who is struggling to take care of his family’s financial needs – in particular providing for his sister’s education.
Printed and circulated during the original first release of the film (somewhere in 1963), this vintage Bollywood poster was designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
This Pyar Ka Bandhan poster was originally designed in hand painted oil on canvas format by a Bollywood poster artist in Bombay.
Supporting actors Dhumal and Johnny Walker are seen in stunning realistic illustrations in this Indian hand painted movie poster. The two are seen singing the hit qawwali song from the film, “Sambhal Kar Ishq Farmana Mohabbat Andhi Hoti Hai” sung by Mohammed Rafi.
This vintage Bollywood poster is set against a brilliant gradient green background. The bottom portion has been left a minimal white for the title to stand out against it, which appears in a thin font in red with a yellow outline.
Typography used in this Indian hand painted movie poster is primarily in English, with only it’s title translated to both Devanagari Hindi as well as Urdu on the top. A black strip is used at the bottom on which the credits are written in light blue.
The soundtrack album of Pyar Ka Bandhan (1963) was composed by Ravi, while lyrics were written by Sahir Ludhianvi. It featured the popular songs, “Sambhal Kar Ishq Farmana Mohabbat Andhi Hoti Hai” and “Bojh Utha Le Saathi Bojh Utha Le” sung by Mohammed Rafi.
The film starts with the following message from the filmmaker to viewers: “It is my request to all the rich brothers, who so ever has come to see this movie in this hall that spare some money for the poor neighbours. As the education and equal opportunity of life is the birthright of every human being.
It ends with the following plea: “Please Solve this PROBLEM. HOW LONG such people will go on dieing, just to educate a daughter and to get her married in a good family.”
