Dev Anand movie poster for sale: Sarhad (1960).
Featured here is an original vintage Bollywood poster of the 1960 black and white Hindi film directed by Shankar Mukherjee that starred the evergreen superstar of Indian cinema, Dev Anand in the lead role.
Suchitra Sen played his love interest, while Ragini, Sajjan, Anwar Hussain, Dhumal, Lalita Pawar, Leela Mishra and Aruna Irani essayed supporting roles in this social reform drama.
Printed and circulated during a subsequent release run of the film somewhere in the late 1960s, this Sarhad poster was originally designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
This rare Dev Anand movie poster was originally designed in hand painted oil on canvas format by a poster design studio in Delhi.
Superstar Dev Anand is seen in a quirky hand drawn full figure portrait in this Sarhad movie poster, with his back to the onlooker. He is seen in his character of a hardened ruthless boss holding a whip in his hand, towering over a band of workers who appear in line formation in a semi abstract rendition in the distance. Actress Suchitra Sen appears with her eyes closed grabbing on to the actor’s knees in a quirky illustrated portrait.
Typography used in this Dev Anand movie poster is primarily in English with a translation of the title seen in Devanagari Hindi as well as in Urdu.
The main English title is seen in white at the bottom in 3D styled typeface with a blue border, giving it a striking appearance.
Sarhad’s soundtrack album was composed by C. Ramchandra and featured gems such as “Ae Mere Dil Jo Chal Diye” sung by Asha Bhosle and “Nacho Ghoom Ghoom Ke” sung by C. Ramchandra and Asha Bhosle.
