Amitabh Bachchan old movie poster for sale of the cult Hindi film Sarkar (2005).
This is an actual surviving Sarkar poster of the 2005 Amitabh Bachchan crime thriller directed by Ram Gopal Varma that was based along the lines of the all-time American classic, The Godfather.
Sarkar starred the biggest superstar of Indian cinema Amitabh Bachchan in the title role as “Subhash Nagre” aka “Sarkar.” The film also starred Abhishek Bachchan, Kay Kay Menon, Katrina Kaif, Anupam Kher, Supriya Pathak, Tanisha Mukherjee and Rukhsaar Rehman in supporting roles.
The blockbuster film was premiered at the New York Asian Film Festival and has been archived at the American Academy of Motion Pictures library. Just like the Godfather Trilogy, two sequels of Sarkar were subsequently released – Sarkar Raj in 2008, and Sarkar 3 in 2017, making this original Sarkar part 1 poster of Amitabh Bachchan highly collectible!
Printed and circulated prior to the first release of the film (somewhere in 2005), this Sarkar poster of Amitabh Bachchan was originally designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
Superstar Amitabh Bachchan is captured in a stunning photographic still in in this Sarkar poster. He is seen standing in the balcony of his mansion, with his arms crossed over his chest. Wearing his iconic round rimless glasses, Amitabh Bachchan is seen sporting his trademark French beard and carrying a mala or prayer beads which are wrapped around his left wrist. The original “angry young man of Bollywood” is seen staring at the camera with a steely face in this Sarkar poster. Contrary to his age, the superstar exudes a muscular and powerful image, standing tall and straight in this Amitabh Bachchan old movie poster.
Over the years, Sarkar has attained cult status and its iconic dialogues have become a part of popular culture. The theme song of the film, “Govinda” sung by Amitabh Bachchan and Kailash Kher is instantly recalled till today.
