Trishul movie poster for sale.
Featured here is an actual surviving original vintage Bollywood poster of the cult 1978 Hindi film directed by Yash Chopra that starred the greatest superstar of Indian cinema, Amitabh Bachchan along with Shashi Kapoor and Sanjeev Kumar in key roles.
Written by Salim-Javed and produced by Gulshan Rai, Trishul (1978) featured an ensemble supporting star cast comprising Hema Malini, Raakhee, Poonam Dhillon, Sachin Pilgaonkar, Prem Chopra, Iftekhar, Manmohan Krishna, Yunus Parvez, Mohan Sherry and M.B. Shetty. Waheeda Rehman made a special appearance in the film.
Printed and circulated during a subsequent release of the film (somewhere in the 1980s), this Amitabh Bachchan old movie poster was originally designed for publicity of the film in north Indian theaters but never ended up being used.
This old Trishul movie poster features quirky hand painted artwork designed by a Bollywood poster art studio in Delhi. The printed signature of Bollywood poster painter Amar is seen on the top right of this Amitabh poster.
A stunning hand painted illustration of the “Angry Young Man of Bollywood,” Amitabh Bachchan is seen on the right. Broad brush strokes used in his portrait lend a macho look to the superstar. He is depicted holding a pistol in his hand. Accurately painted portraits of lead actors Shashi Kapoor and Sanjeev Kumar are seen alongside. Actor Sanjeev Kumar is illustrated in a business suit, injured and bleeding.
An iconic fight scene between Amitabh Bachchan and Shashi Kapoor, who play half brothers in the film, is illustrated in stick figures in the background on the top left. Villain Prem Chopra is seen alongside holding a bloody dagger. Actress Hema Malini is hand painted on the bottom left of this Trishul movie poster, holding a pistol in her hand.
Typography used in this old Bollywood poster is entirely in Devanagari Hindi, with the title appearing in red accentuated with a yellow border.
The soundtrack album of Trishul (1978) was composed by ace music director Khayyam, while lyrics were written by Sahir Ludhianvi. It featured the super hit song, “Mohabbat Bade Kaam Ki Cheez Hai,” which brought together three legendary playback singers, Lata Mangeshkar, Kishore Kumar and Yesudas together for the first time. “Gapoochi Gapoochi Gam Gam” sung by Lata Mangeshkar & Nitin Mukesh was another very popular track from the album.
The film’s success at the box office prompted a subsequent remake in Tamil called Mr. Bharath (1986) starring superstar Rajnikanth.
