Trishul poster for sale.
Featured here is an actual surviving original vintage Bollywood poster of the cult 1978 Hindi film directed by Yash Chopra that starred the greatest superstar of Indian cinema, Amitabh Bachchan along with Shashi Kapoor and Sanjeev Kumar in key roles.
Written by Salim-Javed and produced by Gulshan Rai, Trishul (1978) featured an ensemble supporting star cast comprising Hema Malini, Raakhee, Poonam Dhillon, Sachin Pilgaonkar, Prem Chopra, Iftekhar, Manmohan Krishna, Yunus Parvez, Mohan Sherry and M.B. Shetty. Waheeda Rehman made a special appearance in the film.
Printed and circulated during the first release of the film in theaters (somewhere in 1978), this Amitabh Bachchan old movie poster was originally designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
This old Amitabh movie poster features stunning hand painted artwork created by one of the highest paid and most sought after Bollywood poster designers of his time, Diwakar Karkare of Studio Diwakar fame. The master artist’s printed signature is seen on the bottom right of this original Bollywood poster.
A stunning hand painted portrait of the “Angry Young Man of Bollywood,” Amitabh Bachchan is seen at the bottom. True to his style he uses in most Amitabh Bachchan movie posters, Bollywood poster artist Diwakar Karkare paints Amitabh’s face in a fiery shade of red, signifying anger. Superbly painted portraits of the other lead actors Shashi Kapoor and Sanjeev Kumar are seen on the top and center respectively of this old Amitabh movie poster.
The soundtrack album of Trishul (1978) was composed by ace music director Khayyam, while lyrics were written by Sahir Ludhianvi. It featured the super hit song, “Mohabbat Bade Kaam Ki Cheez Hai,” which brought together three legendary playback singers, Lata Mangeshkar, Kishore Kumar and Yesudas together for the first time. “Gapoochi Gapoochi Gam Gam” sung by Lata Mangeshkar & Nitin Mukesh was another very popular track from the album.
The film’s success at the box office prompted a subsequent remake in Tamil called Mr. Bharath (1986) starring superstar Rajnikanth.
