Zimbo Finds a Son
Illustration film poster for sale: Zimbo Finds a Son (1966).
This is an actual surviving original Bollywood poster for sale of the 1966 adventure Hindi film written and directed by John Cawas starring Azad, Tabassum, Indira and Master Sachin in key roles.
One among a series of films by the same name (Zimbo), just like the others, Zimbo Finds a Son also featured the Chimpanzee “Ape Bomb Pedro.”
Sachin Pilgaonkar made his Hindi film debut in Zimbo Finds a Son, as child actor Master Sachin who played the role of “Son of Zimbo,” making this illustration film poster, highly collectible!
Noted filmmaker Homi Wadia modeled his character “Zimbo” along the lines of the popular icon Tarzan, adding an “Indianized taste” to the adventure series. Produced by Wadia Brothers and released under Homi Wadia’s Basant Pictures banner, Zimbo Finds a Son featured Pedro the chimpanzee also referred to as the Ape Bomb. Pedro added humor to the film and was even trained to perform human-like stunts.
Printed and circulated during the release run of the film in theaters (somewhere in the late 1960s), this rare illustration film poster was designed and printed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
This vintage Zimbo Finds a Son poster was originally hand painted on canvas by an art studio in Delhi. Azad is seen in his character of Zimbo twice in this hand drawn Bollywood poster. He is seen holding a dagger in one portrait and wrestling with a tiger in the other. “Son of Zimbo” Sachin Pilgaonkar is seen holding a spear in his hand against an approaching Rhinoceros. Actress Tabassum is seen at the bottom of this rare illustration film poster.
Lettering used in this poster is primarily in English, with a translation of the title seen in both Devanagari Hindi as well as in Urdu. The three different titles appear in different colors, i.e. red, blue and yellow respectively.
Music of Zimbo Ka Beta was composed by Sapan & Jagmohan.
