Hindi horror poster: Ajooba Kudrat Kaa (1991).
Featured here is an actual surviving publicity poster of the 1990 classic Bollywood horror movie made by the undisputed kings of Bollywood horror, the Ramsay brothers.
Directed by Shyam Ramsay and Tulsi Ramsay, Ajooba Kudrat Kaa (1991) starred Deepak Parashar and Hemant Birje in lead roles, with Shagufta Ali and Manjeet Kullar playing their love interests.
Produced by Shaikh Mohammed Shakeel and released under the SAN International banner, Ajooba Kudrat Kaa (1991) also starred Johnny Lever, Goga Kapoor, Anil Dhawan, Sudhir, Mac Mohan, Beena Banerjee and Huma Khan in supporting roles along with “mighty Himalayan man Yeti” credited for playing the titular monster character.
Ajooba Kudrat Kaa (1991) is credited as being the very first Yeti movie made in Indian cinema, making this Hindi horror poster, highly collectible!
Printed and circulated subsequent to the first release of the film (somewhere in the early 1990s), this Ajooba Kudrat Ka poster was designed and printed for publicity of the film in north Indian theaters but never ended up being used.
This old Bollywood horror movie poster was originally designed in mixed media format, using a combination of both hand painted oil on canvas as well as photographic collage techniques (i.e. by cutting out still pictures of actors from separate photographs using a blade and pasting them on a canvas board).
The printed signature of old Bollywood poster artist Hamid who designed this Ajooba Kudrat Ka movie poster appears on the top right.
This old Hindi horror poster features a large hand drawn illustration of the scary Yeti monster on the top. The close up artwork is flanked by a full figure hand painted rendition of the monster locked inside a cage. Icy glaciers of the Himalayas are seen in the background.
Smaller bust size photos of the two lead couples are seen in romantic stills below on the left and right respectively, i.e. Deepak Parashar with Shagufta Ali and Hemant Birje with Manjeet Kullar.
Typography used in this old Bollywood horror movie poster is primarily in Devanagari Hindi, with the title translated to English as well, appearing in a mix of yellow and orange against a black background.
An announcement on the top reads, “Tulsi Ramsay and Shyam Ramsay’s Terrifying Explosion,” capitalizing on the popularity of the Ramsay brothers in the Indian horror genre.
The soundtrack album of Ajooba Kudrat Ka (1991) was composed by Ajit Singh and featured the hilarious song “Hilla Hilla” sung by comedian Johnny Lever. The title track, “Yeti I Love You” sung by Sadhana Sargam was released in three different versions in the film.
