Vintage movie pressbook for sale of one of the finest films ever made in Bengali cinema, Kabuliwala (1957).
Written and directed by master filmmaker Tapan Sinha, Kabuliwala is a 1957 Bengali film based on a popular story penned by legendary Bengali writer Rabindranath Tagore.
Printed and circulated during the first release of the film in the late 1950s, this old movie pressbook for sale was distributed for publicity of the film’s debut in cinemas.
This vintage movie pressbook was originally designed in hand painted oil on canvas format. The minimalist design of this old movie pressbook for sale makes it truly unique out of all movie collector items.
The central character of the film, i.e. “Kabuliwala” or the “Man from Kabul” is seen on the cover in a very artistic, animated and somewhat abstract rendition. The little girl “Mini” is also seen in a smaller avatar on the cover of this pressbook.
Kabuliwala won the 1956 National Film Award for Best Feature Film and the Silver Bear Extraordinary Prize of the Jury at the 7th Berlin International Film Festival, making this old movie pressbook for sale highly collectible!
Vintage movie pressbooks are excellent collector items preferred due to their small size. Out of all available movie antiques, movie pressbooks for sale are the most affordable movie memorabilia available.
Printed and circulated during the debut release of the film (somewhere in the late 1950s), this is one of the rarest Indian movie antiques for sale that one can buy.
Vintage movie pressbooks are sometimes also referred to as song booklets, story booklets or synopsis booklets. They contain the lyrics of songs from the film in Hindi as well as in Urdu, and were designed to give theater audiences the chance to sing along while watching their favorite songs on screen. Producers printed these movie pressbooks for sale outside cinemas that screened the film. Vintage movie pressbooks provide vital information about the film’s plot as well as it’s entire star cast.
Movie pressbooks for sale, such as the one featured here, make excellent wall hangings or table top displays once framed. They can be displayed either on the front cover artwork side or opened up on the center.
