Andaz poster for sale.
Featured here is an original vintage Bollywood poster of the 1949 romantic Hindi film directed by Mehboob Khan that starred the hit pair of Raj Kapoor and Nargis along with Dilip Kumar in a love triangle.
V.H. Desai, Cuckoo Moray, Murad, Anwari Bai, Amir Banoo, Jamshedji, Abbas, Wasker, Abdul and Dyke (child artist) also starred in Andaz (1949) in supporting roles.
Printed and circulated during the film’s screening in theaters (somewhere in the 1950s), this Dilip Kumar movie poster was designed and printed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
Andaz (1949) was a blockbuster hit, becoming the highest grossing film in the history of Indian cinema until Raj Kapoor’s Barsaat was released subsequently in the same year breaking it’s record.
Andaz is the only film in the history of Indian cinema to feature “Showman” Raj Kapoor and the “Emperor of Acting” Dilip Kumar together, making this original Bollywood poster, highly collectible!
This Andaz poster was originally designed in hand painted oil on canvas format by a leading Bollywood poster design studio in Bombay called Seth Studio. Three stunning illustrated side profiles of Dilip Kumar, Nargis and Raj Kapoor are seen prominently in this Bollywood poster. Nargis’ portrait illuminated at the center gives away the triangular theme of the film.
A minimal dark brown background is seen in this old Dilip Kumar movie poster, which makes the figures in the foreground stand out in stark contrast.
Typography used in this vintage Andaz poster is entirely in English, except for a translation of the title in Devanagari Hindi as well as in Urdu. The main English title of the film appears at the top in a stenciled font in white accentuated with a black border.
The soundtrack album of Andaz (1949) was composed by legendary music composer Naushad, while lyrics were written by Majrooh Sultanpuri. It featured gems such as “Jhoom Jhoom Ke Nacho Aaj” & “Hum Aaj Kahin Dil Kho Baithe” sung by Mukesh and “Koi Mere Dil Mein” sung by Lata Mangeshkar.
