Anupama movie poster for sale.
Featured here is an actual surviving original Bollywood movie poster of the cult 1966 black and white Hindi drama directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee that starred Dharmendra and Sharmila Tagore in key roles.
Produced by L.B. Lachman and released under the LB Films banner, Anupama (1966) also starred Shashikala, Deven Verma, David, Durga Khote, Tarun Bose, Dulari, Surekha Pandit & Naina in supporting roles.
Anupama (1966) won the President’s Gold Medal for All India Best Feature Film at the 1966 National Film Awards, making this rare vintage Bollywood poster, highly collectible!
The film explored the complexities of father-daughter relationships and is regarded by many as one of Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s finest works.
Printed and circulated during a subsequent release of the film in Delhi (somewhere in the late 1960s / early 1970s), this vintage Anupama movie poster was originally designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
This old Bollywood poster was originally designed in hand painted oil on canvas format by a film poster art studio in Delhi.
Two striking hand drawn portraits of superstar Dharmendra and actress Sharmila Tagore, who play father and daughter in the film, are seen in facing each other in this vintage Anupama movie poster. The actress is seen dressed in a saree and holding flowers in her hand.
A pastel shade of dark blue is used in the background of this old hand painted Bollywood poster. The film’s achievement of bagging a National Film Award is announced on the top as “President of India Hails” and “Best Hindi Film of the Year.” A gold medal is seen dividing the two statements.
Typography used in this original Anupama poster is primarily in English, with the title seen translated both in Devanagari Hindi as well as Urdu. The Hindi title of the film is seen in a striking shade of yellow encased in a red strip at the bottom, making it stand out.
The soundtrack album of Anupama (1966) was composed by legendary music composer Hemant Kumar, while lyrics were written by Kaifi Azmi. One of the tracks from the film, “Dheere Dheere Machal” sung by melody queen Lata Mangeshkar became very popular at the time of the film’s release.
