This is an actual surviving vintage Bollywood poster of the 1957 Hindi action drama that starred Suresh, Shashikala, Naina, Roopmala, Mirza Musharraf, Anwar Hussain and Shaikh. Directed by J.B.H. Wadia, Captain Kishore was a Wadia Brothers’ Production.

Printed and circulated during the initial release run of the film in theaters (somewhere in the late 1950s), this rare Bollywood poster was originally designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.

This Captain Kishore poster was originally hand painted on canvas by a poster design studio in Bombay. A large hand painted portrait of actress Shashikala is seen on the top. Actor Suresh is seen prominently in this rare Bollywood poster engaged in a sword fight. Smaller hand painted renditions of Naina and Anwar Hussain are also seen in this Captain Kishore movie poster.

The poster is set against a beautiful hand painted background that features a mix of green, yellow and orange. A tower is seen in the background along with a steam train below it. The title of the film appears in a very pleasing black font at the bottom, with the beginning letter of each word painted in red. A translation of the tile in Devanagari Hindi and Urdi is seen at the bottom of this rare Bollywood poster in green and red respectively.

Interestingly, the names of the star cast have been corrected by the production house with a new label pasted over the previously printed names on the top.
