Bollywood drawings poster for sale: Chalaak (1973).
Featured here is an original vintage Bollywood poster of the old Hindi drama written and directed jointly by T.N. Sharma & R.K. Bannerjee that starred Radha Saluja and Kiran Kumar in key roles.
Produced by Gulab Mehta under the Film Dhaaraa banner, Chalaak (1973) also featured Alka, Jayshree T., Keshto Mukherjee, Jagdish Raj, Brahm Bhardwaj, Master Rattan, Maruti and Hercules in supporting roles, while Danny Denzongpa, Ajit, P. Jairaj and Gautam Sareen made special appearances in the film.
Chalaak (1973) told the story of a wealthy woman (Radha Saluja) who returns to India from London to sell off her ancestral property after her brother passes away. She moves in with her brother’s widow (Alka) and his friend (Kiran Kumar). What follows is a complicated love triangle in which both women end up falling in love with the same man.
Printed and circulated during the first release run of the film in theaters (somewhere in 1973), this old Bollywood drawings poster was printed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
This Chalaak poster was originally designed in hand painted oil on canvas format by Bollywood poster painter Das from Jaipur. His printed signature is seen on the top left.
A stunning hand drawn illustration of actor Kiran Kumar grappling with Ajit is seen prominently in this vintage Bollywood drawings poster. Kiran Kumar is seen pushing away Ajit’s hand which has a smoking pistol, while he hangs on to suitcase in his other hand.
Actress Radha Saluja is illustrated in a large close up in the background, with her gaze captured perfectly. Alka is hand drawn in a risque portrait at the bottom under a shower. The entire poster is set against a minimal green gradient background, making the artwork stand out in contrast.
Typography used in this Bollywood drawings poster is primarily in English, with the title translated to Devanagari Hindi as well as Urdu on the top right. The main English title appears in yellow highlighted with a red border against a black background. The smaller Devanagari Hindi title appears in red.
The soundtrack album of Chalaak (1973) was composed by Ganesh, while lyrics were written by Hasrat Jaipuri. It featured the super hit song, “Dil Ka Nazrana Le O Dildar Le” sung by Asha Bhosle & Kishore Kumar.
