Bollywood movies poster online for sale: College Girl (1978).
Featured here is an original Bollywood poster of the old Hindi crime drama written and directed by Shantilal Soni (S.L. Soni) that starred Sachin Pilgaonkar, Bindiya Goswami and Rita Bhaduri in key roles.
Presented by S.D. Narang under his Narang Films International banner, College Girl (1978) also featured Paintal, Sudhir, Dr. Shreeram Lagoo, Helen, Bhagwan Dada, Heena Kausar, Urmila Bhatt, Shobhna Shah, Jagdish Raj, Rajan Haksar, Uma Dhawan, Viju Khote and C.S. Dubey in supporting roles, while Chand Usmani and Ramesh Deo made special appearances in the film.
College Girl (1978) was a remake of the Hollywood rape revenge thriller, Lipstick (1976). The same theme was later reused in the super hit Bollywood film, Insaf Ka Tarazu (1980).
Dedicated to “College Girls from Middle Class Families” in the opening credits, College Girl (1978) told the story of two sisters, one of whom ends up getting raped (Rita Bhaduri). Her sister seeks justice by pleading her case as a lawyer (Bindiya Goswami). However, the accused (Sudhir) assaults her instead.
Printed and circulated during the first release run of the film in theaters (somewhere in 1978), this Bollywood movies poster was printed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
This College Girl poster was originally designed using mixed media techniques, combining hand painted oil on canvas art with photographic collage by one of the leading Bollywood poster painters of his time, D.R. Bhosle. His printed signature is seen on the top right.
A stunning hand drawn illustration of Sachin Pilgaonkar carrying Bindiya Goswami on his shoulders is seen on the top. The scene is illustrated from the memorable song, “Please Dear Please” sung by Bappi Lahiri. A photographic still of a fight scene between Sachin Pilgaonkar and Sudhir is seen opn the bottom left, while actress Rita Bhaduri is seen on the bottom right.
True to master Bollywood poster artist D.R. Bhosle’s signature style of minimalism, this College Girl poster has a strong focus on portraiture, while the background is left empty (a blue sky is seen on the top half and white on the bottom).
Typography used in this Bollywood movies poster is a mix of English and Devanagari Hindi. The film, despite featuring several adult scenes, is announced as a “Family Entertainer at the bottom center in Devanagari Hindi. The main English title appears in a 3D font in yellow, highlighted with a black background. The smaller Devanagari Hindi title appears in red.
The soundtrack album of College Girl (1978) was composed by “Disco King” Bappi Lahiri. It featured the super hit song, “Pyar Manga Hai Tumhi Se, Na Inkar Karo” sung by the greatest playback singer in Indian cinema, Kishore Kumar.
