Helen poster for sale: Chale Hain Sasural (1966).
Featured here is an actual surviving original vintage Bollywood poster of the 1966 Hindi film produced and directed by Dharam Kumar that starred Helen, Chandrashekhar and Bhagwan in key roles.
Released under the Krishna Deep Productions banner, Chale Hain Sasural (1966) also starred Aruna Irani, Madhumati, Sheri, Meenakshi, Sunder and Mirza Musharaf in supporting roles.
Printed and circulated during the debut release of the film in theaters (somewhere in 1966), this vintage Bollywood poster was originally designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
This Chale Hain Sasural poster was originally designed in hand painted oil on canvas format by one of the leading Bollywood poster design studios of Bombay.
Master Bollywood poster artist D.R. Bhosle’s restrained approach and high degree of likeness in portraiture is seen in this beautifully illustrated Helen poster.
Bhagwan and Chandrashekhar are seen dressed in suits playing the guitar in full length portraits in this vintage Bollywood poster. Their animated poses seem to suggest they are performing on stage. Actress Helen is seen in a stunning hand painted portrait below in a dancing pose.
A small suggestion of dancing women is seen illustrated between actor Bhagwan’s legs. Typography used in this Bollywood poster is primarily in English, with the title seen translated in both Devanagari Hindi as well as in Urdu. The main English title appears in a wavy musical font in red with a yellow border.
As is common with most of Bollywood poster painter D.R. Bhosle’s artworks, the background is a white at the bottom and has minimal pink stripes on the top, bringing the portraits in sharp focus. His printed signature is seen on the right center of this old Helen poster.
The soundtrack album of Chale Hain Sasural (1966) was composed by C. Arjun, while lyrics were written by Qamar Jalalabadi.
