Bollywood suspense movies poster: Dhuan (1981).
Featured here is an original Bollywood poster of the old Hindi suspenseful thriller directed by Dulal Guha that starred Raakhee, Mithun Chakraborty and Ranjeeta in key roles.
Produced by Gautham Guha and presented under the Sri Sai Chitra banner, Dhuan (1981) also featured Amjad Khan, Aruna Irani, Padma Khanna, Nandita Thakur, Asit Sen, Goga Kapoor, Rajan Haksar, Azad and Abhi Bhattacharya in supporting roles. Sudhir Pandey and Sharad Sharma made their debut in the film, while superstar Jeetendra made a guest appearance.
Dhuan (1981) was a remake of the British film, Chase a Crooked Shadow (1958). A similar plot was used in Telugu movie Mayadari Maridi (1985) and the Hindi film Khoj (1989).
Printed and circulated during the first release run of the film in theaters (somewhere in 1981), this Bollywood suspense movies poster was printed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
This Dhuan poster was originally designed using photographic collage techniques by a Bollywood poster design studio in Bombay. A stunning arrangement of still photographs of the lead actors are seen in this vintage poster. Lead couple Mithun Chakraborty and Ranjeeta are seen in a large close up passionately gazing into each other’s eyes at the bottom.
Actress Raakhee is seen shell shocked, with a pistol pointed at her head on the top left of this Bollywood suspense movies poster. Actor Amjad Khan is seen on the top right of this Mithun Chakraborty poster.
Typography used in this original Dhuan movie poster is entirely in English. The title is seen in a meaningful 3D font in red, with a smoky black background. The subtitle, “The Smoke of Suspense” appears in yellow overlapping the title.
The soundtrack album of Dhuan (1981) was composed by music maestro R.D. Burman, while lyrics were written by Majrooh Sultanpuri. It featured memorable songs such as “Phir Aankh Phadki” sung by Asha Bhosle and “Tum Mile Hum Khile” sung by Suresh Wadkar & Amit Kumar.
