Hand drawn Bollywood movie posters for sale: Do Boond Pani (1971).
This is an actual surviving vintage Bollywood poster of the 1971 old social Hindi drama directed by K.A. Abbas that starred Simi Garewal, Jalal Agha and Madhu Chanda in key roles. Kiran Kumar made his acting debut in the film.
Do Boond Pani was a social themed film centered around the issue of water scarcity. Although not commercially successful, the film was hailed by critics and won the award for Best Feature film on National integration, making this hand drawn Bollywood movie poster, highly collectible!
Printed and circulated during the initial release run of the film (somewhere in the early 1970s), this Do Boond Pani poster was printed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
This rare hand drawn Bollywood movie poster was originally designed in hand painted format on canvas by an art studio in Bombay. The lead couple, Jalal Agha and Simi Garewal are seen in a stunning hand painted portrait, embracing each other in this minimal poster. Typography used in this hand drawn Bollywood movie poster appears in Devanagari Hindi script, with a translation of the title at the bottom in English. The background appears like a picture frame, giving the poster a minimalist look.
Do Boond Pani featured the hit song, “Ja Ri Pawaniya Piya Ke Des Ja” sung by Asha Bhosle, written by Kaifi Azmi and composed by music maestro Jaidev.
