Featured here is an original Bollywood poster of the old 1982 Hindi action comedy directed by C.P. Dixit that starred Dharmendra in a double role along with Rekha.
Produced by N.N. Sippy and presented under his N.N. Sippy Productions banner, Ghazab (1982) also featured Ranjeet, Madan Puri, Jagdeep, Aruna Irani, Seema Deo, Shreeram Lagoo, Madan Puri, Keshto Mukherjee, Sharat Saxena, Kedarnath Saigal, Asit Kumar Sen and Krishan Dhawan in supporting roles.
A remake of remake of the Tamil film Kalyanaraman (1979), Ghazab (1982) told the story of a naive simpleton (Dharmendra) who is the heir of a multi-millionaire (Shreeram Lagoo). Their staff, led by their manager (Ranjeet) conspire against them and murder both father and son. The son’s restless spirit seeks out his twin brother living in a different city to avenge their deaths.
Printed and circulated during the first release of the film in theaters (somewhere in 1982), this old Bollywood movie poster was issued for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
This Ghazab poster was originally designed in hand painted oil on canvas format by a Bollywood poster painter based in Bombay.
A stunning hand painted illustration of superstar Dharmendra breaking down his chains is seen at the center of this best movie poster Bollywood. A large statue appears amidst burning flames on the top. The artwork is taken from the climax of the film. Two large hand drawn close ups appear on either side – Rekha on the left and Dharmendra with buck teeth in his comical character on the right.
Typography used in this vintage Ghazab poster is entirely in English, with the title illustrated in a 3D font in white, highlighted with a black border.
The soundtrack album of Ghazab (1982) was composed by hit duo Laxmikant-Pyarelal, while lyrics were written by Anand Bakshi. It featured the blockbuster hit song, “Yeh Hawa Yeh Bata” sung by Lata Mangeshkar. “Aage Se Dekho, Peechhe Se Dekho, Upar Se Dekho, Neeche Se Dekho” sung by father-son duo Kishore Kumar and Amit Kumar was also extremely popular at the time of the film’s release.
