Rajesh Khanna movie poster for sale: Hum Dono (1985).
Featured here is an actual surviving original vintage Bollywood poster of the 1985 comedy action drama directed and edited by B.S. Glaad that starred the first superstar of India cinema, Rajesh Khanna in a double role opposite Hema Malini and Reena Roy.
Produced by Tony Glaad and released under the Happy Films (India) banner, Hum Dono (1985) also starred Johnny Walker, Jagdeep, Mukri, Mohan Choti, Roopesh Kumar, Keshto Mukherjee, Asit Sen, Shubha Khote, Om Shivpuri, Piloo Wadia, Dinesh Hingoo, Viju Khote, Madhu Malini and Iftekhar in supporting roles. Shammi, Sudhir and Premnath made special appearances in the film.
Printed and circulated during the film’s first release in theaters (somewhere in 1985), this Rajesh Khanna movie poster was originally designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
Originally designed in hand painted oil on canvas format by a Bollywood poster designer from Bombay, this Indian comedy movies poster features a striking design.
Superstar Rajesh Khanna is seen illustrated in large close up portraits arranged in symmetry on the top against a minimal white background. He appears laughing on the left and smoking on the right. The artwork captures the two identical twins in their character – one a happy go lucky simpleton and the other an honest doctor.
Two full figure hand painted portraits at the bottom of this Rajesh Khanna movie poster feature the star dancing with his two leading ladies, i.e. with Hema Malini on the left and with Reena Roy on the right. The dual portraits give away the double role plot of the film.
The background features an interesting mix of hues of pink, yellow and green that start below the close up portraits. Vintage hand drawn stars and motifs are seen dotting this vintage Bollywood poster.
Typography used in this vintage Hum Dono poster is entirely in English, with the title standing out in red accentuated with a black border giving it a 3D appearance.
The soundtrack album of Hum Dono (1985) was composed by one of the greatest composers of Indian cinema, R.D. Burman. while lyrics were written by Anand Bakshi. It featured the catchy track, “Sunle Zameen Aasman, Sunle Yeh Sara Jahan” sung by Kishore Kumar and Asha Bhosle.
Hum Dono (1985) was a remake of the old Telugu film Sommokadidhi Sokokadidhi (1979) (dubbed and released in Tamil as Iru Nilavugal and in Malayalam as Jeevikkaan Padikkanam) that featured Kamal Haasan in a double role.
