Indian western movies poster for sale: Kaala Sona (1975).
Featured here is an actual surviving original vintage Bollywood poster of the 1975 Hindi curry Western directed by Ravikant Nagaich that starred the Clint Eastwood of India, Feroz Khan in the lead role.
Produced by Harish and Vinod Shah, distributed by Vision Universal and released under the Shilpkar’s banner, Kaala Sona (1975) also starred Parveen Babi, Prem Chopra, Danny Denzongpa, Farida Jalal, Helen, Bipin Gupta, Imtiaz Khan, Durga Khote, Keshto Mukherjee, Bhagwan, Agha, Raju Shrestha, K. N. Singh, P. Jairaj and Satyendra Kapoor in supporting roles.
Printed and circulated during the debut release of the film in theaters (somewhere in 1975), this old hand drawn Bollywood poster was originally designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
This Kaala Sona movie poster was originally designed in hand painted oil on canvas format by the highest paid Bollywood poster artist of all time, Diwakar Karkare of Studio Diwakar fame. His printed signature is seen at the bottom left of this Indian western movies poster.
A stunning illustration of lead actor Feroz Khan wearing a cowboy hat and taking aim from his pistol is seen at the bottom. Actress Parveen Babi is seen holding a double barreled shotgun in an artistic portrait alongside.
Feroz Khan and Danny Denzongpa (wearing a native American Indian bandana) are illustrated in a fight scene on the top. Both actors appear wearing only their “langots” (jock straps), grappling with one another while their machetes are locked in battle. Bollywood poster painter Diwakar’s expert brush strokes capture the high intensity and drama in the scene with striking expressions on the faces of the actors and bright highlights.
An army of galloping horses is seen at the center of this Indian western movies poster. The background is split into two parts, the top showing broad strokes of yellow while the bottom is a minimal white, making the illustration in the foreground stand out.
Typography used in this original Kaala Sona poster is entirely in English, with the title illustrated in a 3D like font in red.
The soundtrack album of Kaala Sona (1975) was composed by one of the greatest music composers in Indian cinema, R.D. Burman. The film featured an unforgettable background whistling score, which was taken by R.D. Burman from his previously composed iconic song, “Chala Jaata Hoon” from Mere Jeevan Saathi (1972).
Danny Denzongpa, one of the most successful villains of Indian cinema, had a hidden singing talent that was first discovered by S.D. Burman in the film Yeh Gulistan Hamara (1972), in which he sang “Mera Naam Aao Mere Paas Aao,” a duet with Lata Mangeshkar. Like his father S.D. Burman, R.D. Burman also decided to put Danny Denzongpa’s singing prowess to use in Kaala Sona (1975) with the memorable duet “Sun Sun Kasam Se, Lagu Tere Kadam Se” sung by Danny and Asha Bhosle.
