Amitabh painting poster for sale: Kasauti (1974).
This is an actual surviving vintage Bollywood poster of the 1974 old Hindi film that featured the greatest superstar of Indian cinema, Amitabh Bachchan in the lead role opposite Dreamgirl Hema Malini.
Produced and directed by Arabind Sen, Kasauti also starred Pran, Sonia Sahni, Bharat Bhushan, Mac Mohan, Ramesh Deo, D. K. Sapru, Sulochana Latkar, Satyen Kappu and Mohan Choti in supporting roles.
Printed and circulated during a subsequent theatrical release run of the film in Delhi (somewhere in the 1980s), this Kasauti movie poster was originally designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
Originally hand drawn on canvas by a Bollywood poster design studio in Delhi, this Amitabh painting poster features caricature styled artwork. “One Man Industry” superstar Amitabh Bachchan is seen in a quirky portrait inspired from his all time blockbuster hit, Don. He is seen taking aim from a pistol. Actress Hema Malini is seen alongside in a full length hand drawn portrait wearing a top hat.
This old Amitabh painting poster capitalizes on the stellar success of the song, “Hum Bolega To Bologe Ki Bolta Hai” sung by Kishore Kumar. The lyrics are announced at the top and actor Pran is seen illustrated from the song showing his hands that have thumb puppets and a Nepali Khukuri (machete styled knife).
Sonia Sahni is seen in a smaller illustrated avatar at the bottom of this Amitabh painting poster. An old Ambassador taxi cab is seen at the center. Two fight scenes also appear in semi abstract style in this Kasauti movie poster. Typography used in this old Bollywood poster is in Devanagari Hindi, with a translation of the title appearing in English and Urdu as well. The title uses bright contrasting shades of red, black and yellow in a 3D styled font to draw the viewer’s attention.
The soundtrack album of Kasauti was composed by hit duo Kalyanji-Anandji. Songs from the film such as “Hum Bolega To Bologe Ki Bolta Hai” sung by Kishore Kumar and “Ho Jata Hai Pyar, Pyar Kiya Nahin Jaye” sung by Lata Mangeshkar and Kishore Kumar went on to become a rage throughout the nation.
