This is an actual surviving original old Bollywood poster of the 1951 black and white Hindi romance produced and directed by J.B.H. Wadia under the “Wadia Films Ltd.” banner.
Madhosh starred Manhar Desai, Meena Kumari, Usha Kiran, Rajan and Mubarak in key roles. Kuldeep Akhtar, Jiloobai, S. Nazir, Habib Sandow, Shivdutt, Bismilla, Ram Krishan and Goldstein played supporting roles in the film.
Madhosh was based on the famous book Pankala written by noted Marathi writer RV Dighe, drawing parallels with Romeo and Juliet.
Printed and circulated during the theatrical run of the movie (somewhere in the 1950s), this vintage Indian film poster was originally designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
This Madhosh poster was originally hand painted on canvas by one of the leading poster art studios in Bombay called Balkrishna Arts. The printed signature of noted Bollywood poster painter Balkrishna is seen on the bottom right of this vintage Indian film poster.

Lyrics of a popular song from the film sung by Talat Mahmood, “Meri Yaad Mein Tum Na Ansoo Bahana, Na Jee Ko Jalana, Mujhe Bhool Jaana” (Don’t Cry Remembering Me, Nor Burn Your Heart, Forget Me) appear in Devanagari Hindi intertwined into musical noted in this vintage Indian film poster for sale.
All songs of Madhosh were composed by Madan Mohan, with lyrics written by Raja Mehdi Ali Khan. Vilayat Khan played the sitar and the songs were sung by Lata Mangeshkar and Talat Mahmood.
