Black and white Hindi movie poster for sale online: Madhosh (1951).
This is an actual surviving original vintage Bollywood poster of the old 1951 black and white Hindi romance produced and directed by J.B.H. Wadia under the “Wadia Films Ltd.” banner.
Madhosh starred Manhar Desai, Meena Kumari, Usha Kiran, Rajan and Mubarak in key roles. Kuldeep Akhtar, Jiloobai, S. Nazir, Habib Sandow, Shivdutt, Bismilla, Ram Krishan and Goldstein played supporting roles in the film.
Madhosh was based on the famous book Pankala written by noted Marathi writer RV Dighe, drawing parallels with Romeo and Juliet.
Printed and circulated during the theatrical run of the film (somewhere in the early 1950s), this old black and white Hindi movie poster was originally designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
This Madhosh movie poster was originally hand painted on canvas by an art studio based in Bombay. The printed signature of Bollywood poster painter Mirajkar is seen on the bottom right of this vintage original Bollywood poster.
The three key stars of the film, Manhar Desai, Meena Kumari and Usha Kiran are seen in a brilliant illustration prominently in this old black and white Hindi movie poster. Galloping horses are seen at the bottom. Typography used in this Madhosh poster is entirely in English with a translation of the title appearing at the bottom in Devanagari Hindi.
All songs of Madhosh were composed by Madan Mohan, with lyrics written by Raja Mehdi Ali Khan. Vilayat Khan played the sitar and the songs were sung by Lata Mangeshkar and Talat Mahmood.
