Pooja Ke Phool poster for sale.
Featured here is an actual surviving original vintage Bollywood poster of the old 1964 black and white drama directed by A. Bhimsingh that starred Ashok Kumar, Dharmendra, Mala Sinha, Sandhya Roy and Nimmi in key roles.
Produced by A.V. Meiyappan and presented under the prestigious A.V.M. Productions banner, Pooja Ke Phool (1964) also starred Pran, Nana Palsikar, Mohan Choti, Shivraj, Umesh Sharma, Mukri, Wahab Kashmiri, Sulochana Chatterjee, Kammo, Leela Chitnis and Madhumati in supporting roles.
Printed and circulated during the initial release of the film (somewhere in 1964), this Pooja Ke Phool poster was originally designed for publicity of the film in theaters but never ended up being used.
Pooja Ke Phool (1964) told the story of a middle class arts student called Balraj (Dharmendra), who is looking for affordable accommodation in the city. He finds a family in Gandhinagar that is willing to take him in, albeit only if he is married, as they have a single daughter at home called Shanti (Mala Sinha). Balraj reluctantly agrees to lie to take up the room. As time progresses, Shanti begins to fall in love with Balraj and eventually comes to know he had lied about being married. The two fall in love and desire to get married. However, destiny has other plans for Balraj.
This vintage Bollywood poster was originally designed in mixed media format, using a combination of both hand painted oil on canvas as well as photographic collage techniques by a Madras based Bollywood poster art studio.
Superstar Ashok Kumar is seen in a large black and white photographic still smoking a cigar prominently on this Bollywood poster. Smaller black and white close up images of actress Nimmi and Pran appear on the right encased in pentagon styled backgrounds.
Typography used in this black and white Bollywood movie poster is entirely in Devanagari Hindi, except for a translation of the title in English and Urdu. The main Devanagari Hindi title appears in a diagonal font in orange, which stands out against the black background.
The overall use of two tone shades, i.e. dark blue and orange give this Pooja Ke Phool poster a striking appearance.
The soundtrack album of Pooja Ke Phool (1964) was composed by Madan Mohan, while lyrics were written by Rajinder Krishan. It featured super hit songs such as “Ab Do Dilon Ki Mushkil” and “Hey Jamaalo” sung by Mohammed Rafi & Asha Bhosle. “Jara Thehar Tujhe Samjhaoon” and the popular Bollywood cat song, “Meow Meow Meri Sakhi” sung by Lata Mangeshkar were also very popular.
