Snake Hindi movie poster for sale: Shubh Din (1974).

Featured here is an actual surviving original vintage Bollywood poster of the old 1974 Hindi film directed by R. Thyagaraajan that starred Madhu Chanda in the lead role.

Written & produced by Sandow M.M.A. Chinnappa Devar and presented under his Devar Films banner, Shubh Din (1974) also starred Om Prakash, Madhu Malini and Shashi Kiran in supporting roles.

Shubh Din (1974) told the story of an unmarried woman (played by Madhu Chanda) who is an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva. She fasts and prays regularly, visiting the temple on Mondays, where her worship is rewarded each time by the appearance of a snake that represents Lord Shiva. On the auspicious day of Naga Panchami (a day of worship of “nagas” or snakes) her milk offering is accepted by a snake and she is overjoyed. When she narrates the incident to her grandfather (played by Om Prakash), he believes that the “doshas” (problems) in her “kundli” (birth chart) have been fixed, which will clear the way for her to find a suitable husband. The son of a wealthy businessman whom he works for arrives from abroad. He is a compassionate man who respects seniors and the staff that works for him. The only problem is that he hates snakes – both dead and alive.

Printed and circulated during the first release of the film in theaters (somewhere in 1974), this vintage Bollywood poster was printed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.

This vintage Bollywood poster was originally designed using a combination of both hand painted as well as photographic techniques by an art studio in Madras.

Set against a light gradient background hand painted with broad visible brush strokes, this Bollywood poster features lead actress Madhu Chanda lying on a bed folding her hands in front of a snake. A small black and white photographic still of a man with a mustache is seen on the bottom right hand corner of this snake Hindi movie poster.

The soundtrack album of Shubh Din (1974) was composed by ace music composer duo Kalyanji-Anandji, while lyrics were written by Verma Malik. It featured the hit duet, “Sunle Sajan Ek Meri Baat” sung by Lata Mangeshkar and Kishore Kumar.
