Old Hindi movie posters for sale: Swarag Narak (1978).
Featured here is an original vintage Bollywood poster of the old Hindi drama directed by Dasari Narayana Rao that starred Sanjeev Kumar, Jeetendra, Vinod Mehra, Moushumi Chatterjee and Shabana Azmi in key roles.
Produced and presented by B. Nagi Reddy under the Vijaya Productions banner, Swarag Narak (1978) also featured Tanuja, Kamini Kaushal, Helen, Shobhini Singh, Vijayalakshmi, Madan Puri, A.K. Hangal, Prema Narayan, Paintal, Shammi, Raj Mehra, Om Shivpuri, Vikram Gokhale, Jagdeep and Birbal in supporting roles.
Swarag Narak (1978) was a remake of Dasari Narayana Rao’s previous Telugu super hit, Swargam Narakam (1975). It told the story of two married couples who find their relationships challenged with possessiveness and insecurity.
Printed and circulated during a subsequent release run of the film (somewhere in the late 1970s / early 1980s), this old Hindi movie poster was printed for publicity of the film in north Indian theaters but never ended up being used.
This Swarag Narak poster was originally designed in hand painted oil on canvas format by a Bollywood poster design studio in Delhi. A stunning hand drawn portrait of actor Sanjeev Kumar illustrated in blue is seen at the center. He appears smiling away with folded hands.
Two quirky hand drawn illustrations of the lead couples are seen on the sides. Jeetendra & Moushumi Chatterjee appear on the bottom left, while Vinod Mehra and Shabana Azmi are seen on the top right. Both couples appear embracing each other. The entire poster is set against a minimal white background, making the artwork stand out in contrast.
Typography used in this old Hindi movie poster for sale is primarily in Devanagari Hindi, with the title translated to English as well as Urdu. The main English title appears in red highlighted with a white border against a blue background. The smaller two word Devanagari Hindi title is split into two colors, with red representing Swarag (Heaven) and green Narak (Hell).
The soundtrack album of Swarag Narak (1978) was composed by Rajesh Roshan, while lyrics were written by Anand Bakshi. It featured the super hit song, “Leena O Leena Dil Tune Chhina” sung by Kishore Kumar
