Rare Indian poster for sale: Waaris (1988).

This is an actual surviving original vintage Bollywood poster for sale of the 1988 Hindi film that starred Smita Patil, Raj Babbar, Amrita Singh and Raj Kiran in prominent roles. Directed by Raveendra Peepat, Waaris also starred Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Amrish Puri, Pradeep Kumar and Avtar Gill in supporting roles.

Waaris was released after Smita Patil’s tragic demise in 1986 at the age of just 31. Actress Rekha was roped in to dub for late actress Smita Patil and the film was released two years after her passing.

Printed and circulated during the initial release run of the film (somewhere in the late 1980s), this rare Indian poster was designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.

This vintage Bollywood poster was originally designed using a photographic collage technique. A stunning Smita Patil photo is seen prominently at the bottom center. Smaller photographic close ups of Raj Babbar and Amrita Singh are seen on her sides in this rare Indian poster. A fight scene is seen unfolding between Kulbhushan Kharbanda and Amrish Puri at the top. The title of the film appears in a striking yellow font at the center of this in this vintage Bollywood poster.

Waaris was adapted from the Punjabi novel Kaara-Hatthi written by Sohan Singh Hans.
