Back to the Future 2 poster (1989) original for sale.
Featured here is a rare original Hollywood movie poster of the cult 1989 sci-fi sequel directed by Robert Zemeckis that saw Michael J. Fox reprise his role as “Marty McFly” along with Christopher Lloyd, who played the role of mad scientist “Doc.”
Lea Thompson, Thomas F. Wilson, Elisabeth Shue and Jeffrey Weissman played supporting roles in Back to the Future II (1989) which was shot back to back with its sequel, Back to the Future Part III (1990).
Printed and circulated in India during the local release of the film (somewhere in the late 1980s / early 1990s), this Back to the Future 2 original movie poster was designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
This classic Hollywood film poster was designed using photographic collage techniques. A stunning still photo of lead actor Michael J. Fox is seen in his character of “Marty McFly” along with Christopher Lloyd, who plays mad scientist “Doc.” The two of them are pictured removing their sunglasses to get a clearer look at their wristwatches. An expression of shock is seen on their faces.
The open gull-wing door of the iconic DMC DeLorean car to which the time travel device (flux capacitor) is mounted is seen in the background. It appears flying, with its wheels inverted.
This Back to the Future part ii poster original credits Steven Spielberg twice on the poster – on the top as a presenter and again at the bottom as an executive producer.
The title of the film appears in a stunning creative font. The word “Back” is pushed to the left along with an arrow pointing in the same direction, signifying the past. “To The Future Part II” is written slanting to the right, i.e. forward, with an arrow encasing the word “Part.” The time travel theme of the film is further elaborated with the following text seen on the top right of this Back to the Future 2 poster: “Getting back was only the beginning.”
Back to the Future Part II is regarded a ground-breaking film as far as visual effects are concerned. Two years were spent building sets and writing the scripts for both Part II and Part III respectively, which were then shot back to back.
Back to the Future Part 2 gave rise to a “hoverboard” myth, with people searching toy stores for flying skateboards, which were fictionalized in the film.
