Old Indian film posters for sale: Gaai Aur Gori (1973).
This is an actual surviving vintage Bollywood poster of the 1973 Hindi drama that starred Jaya Bachchan and Shatrughan Sinha in lead roles. Directed by M.A. Thirumugam, the film also starred Bindu, Sulochana Latkar and Manmohan in supporting roles.
Printed and circulated during the debut release of the film in theaters (somewhere in the early 1970s), this old Indian film poster was originally designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
Gaai Aur Gori was based on the story of a girl named Gauri who has a pet cow. It was a remake of Tamil film Komatha En Kulamatha (1973).
This simplistic old Indian film poster has been designed using a combination of both hand painted as well as photographic collage techniques. An over-painted still photo of actress Jaya Bachchan with her pet cow is seen in the background on the left of the poster. Actor Shatrughan Sinha is seen in the foreground. A soothing blue sky is seen on the top of this old Indian film poster.
Set against a minimalist background, typography used in this Gaai Aur Gori poster is entirely in Devanagari Hindi, with a translation of the title appearing at the top in both English as well as Urdu.
The soundtrack album of Gaai Aur Gori was composed by ace music compose duo Laxmikant Pyarelal and lyrics were written by Anand Bakshi. One of the songs from the film, “Gori O Gori Prem Karle” sung by Kishore Kumar became popular at the time of the film’s release.
