Highly collectible, hand drawn old Bollywood poster of the hit Hindi film Geeta Mera Naam (1974) for sale.
This is an actual surviving old poster of the 1974 Hindi film that featured actress Sadhana Shivdasani in a double role opposite Feroz Khan and Sunil Dutt.
Produced by R. K. Nayyar, Geeta Mera Naam was directed by his wife, Sadhana Shivdasani. The film also starred Helen, Rajendra Nath, Ramesh Deo, Achala Sachdev, Agha, Keshto Mukerjee and Junior Mehmood in supporting roles.
Printed and circulated during the release of the film, this old Bollywood poster was originally designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
Geeta Mera Naam is responsible for reviving the career of Sunil Dutt, whose acting career was at a standstill before this film was released. His role as a villain in the film won him mass appeal.
The anti-hero Sunil Dutt and lead protagonist Feroz Khan are seen locked in a sword fight at the bottom. A large side profile of the actress is seen painted on the left side of the poster. Typography used in the poster is primarily in English, with the film’s title translated in Devanagari Hindi as well at the bottom.
Geetaa Mera Naam (1974) tells the story of four children who are separated at a fair and unknowingly reunite years later – a popular theme that was explored in several other films in Indian cinema. The soundtrack album of the film was composed by hit duo Laxmikant-Pyarelal while songs were sung by Lata Mangeshkar, Mohammed Rafi and Asha Bhosle.
