Hanuman Chalisa

$130.00

Hanuman Chalisa poster for sale.

Featured here is a rare hand drawn Bollywood poster of the Indian mythology film, Hanuman Chalisa (1969).

This is an actual surviving vintage Bollywood poster of the 1969 Hindi mythological produced by Homi Wadia’s production house, Basant Pictures.

Printed and circulated a few years after the original first release of the film in the 1970s, this old Indian mythology movie poster was printed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.

This vintage Hanuman Chalisa poster was originally designed on a hand drawn canvas by a small time poster art studio in Delhi, giving it a very quirky appearance. A memorable scene from the film where Lord Hanuman tears open his chest to reveal an image of Rama and Sita in his heart is seen prominently in this poster.

A message on the top of this poster reads, “Sada Jagrut Dev Hanuman Ji Ki Sampoorna Katha” (Always Aware Lord Hanuman’s Complete Story). Typography used in this Indian mythology poster is completely in Devanagari Hindi, with a translation of the title appearing in Urdu at the bottom. Lord Hanuman is seen flying over a crocodile on the top of this old Bollywood poster Delhi print. Another hand drawn depiction at the bottom shows Lord Hanuman in his childhood avatar swallowing the sun.
