Mythology posters for sale: Hari Darshan (1972).
Featured here is an original Indian Hindu mythology poster of the old Hindi film, Hari Darshan (1972).
This is an actual surviving vintage Bollywood poster of the 1972 mythological Hindi film that featured B. Saroja Devi, Randhawa, Satyajeet Puri, Mehmood, Mehmood Junior, Jayshree Gadkar and Sujatha in key roles. Award winning wrestler turned Bollywood actor, Dara Singh also starred in the film.
Hari Darshan is based on the story of Bhakt Prahlad who was a staunch devotee of Lord Vishnu.
Printed and circulated subsequent to the first release of the film (somewhere in the 1970s), this mythology poster for sale was printed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
This Hari Darshan poster was originally designed in hand painted oil on canvas format by a poster art studio in Delhi. Devotee Prahlad (played by Satyajeet Puri) is seen in this vintage poster praying while seated inside a pot of boiling oil. He has been sentenced to death by his wicked father Hiranyakasipu (played by actor Randhawa) seen on the top left. A close up of actress Jayshree Gadkar who plays Devi Lakshmi is seen on the top of this mythology poster for sale.
Typography used in this hand drawn Bollywood poster is in both English as well as Devanagari Hindi.
The soundtrack album of Hari Darshan was composed by ace duo Kalyanji Anandji. One of the songs from the film, “Jai Jai Narayan” sung by Lata Mangeshkar became popular at the time of the film’s release.
