Bikini movie posters for sale: Ahsaas (1979).
This is an actual surviving old Bollywood poster of the 1979 Hindi film Ahsaas which starred newcomers Parvez and Dina in lead roles.
Produced by G. P. Sippy and directed by Surinder Suri, Ahsaas also starred Shammi Kapoor, Shashi Kapoor, Simi Garewal, Simple Kapadia, Bindu, Amjad Khan and Rakesh Bedi in supporting roles. Amitabh Bachchan and Bindiya Goswami made a special appearance in the film in the Lata Mangeshkar song, “Rootho Na, Rootho Na.”
The film marked the debut of actor Rakesh Bedi, who went on to carve a niche for himself in the world of comedy in both films as well as television.
Printed and circulated a few years after the debut release of the film (somewhere in the 1980s), this vintage Ahsaas movie poster was designed and printed for publicity of the film in northern India but never ended up being used.
This vintage bikini movie poster was originally designed in hand painted oil on canvas format by a poster art studio in Delhi.
A full length portrait of the lead couple Parvez and Dina is seen on the left. The actress has been illustrated wearing a two piece bikini suit – very risque for it’s time. This is one of the rare few Bollywood bikini movie posters ever made, making it highly collectible!
Large close ups of supporting actors Amjad Khan and Shammi Kapoor are seen hand drawn on the right of this old Bollywood poster. A quirky illustration featuring a fight scene is seen on the left. The background is a minimal light shade of lime except a few pastel shades used to depict the wall and the cityscape of the fight scene.
Typography used in this Ahsaas movie poster is a combination of both Devanagari Hindi as well as English. The Devanagari Hindi title appears in an interesting slanted diminishing font in light blue with a yellow border.
The soundtrack album of Ahsaas was composed by Bappi Lahiri. It featured memorable songs such as, “Kuch Khone Ko Dil Karta Hai” sung by Asha Bhosle and “Jo Na Chhote Hai Na Bade, Badi Mushkil Mein Woh Pade” sung by Kishore Kumar and Shailendra Singh.
