Shashi Kapoor poster for sale: Rahu Ketu (1978).
Featured here is an actual surviving original Bollywood poster of the 1978 action Hindi drama directed by B.R. Ishara that starred Premnath and Pran as Rahu and Ketu respectively, along with Shashi Kapoor and Rekha in key roles.
A Vasudha Arts’ presentation released under the Nagi Enterprises banner, Rahu Ketu (1978) also featured Bindu, Kamini Kaushal, Shubra Sen, Asit Sen, Keshto Mukherjee, Kanhaiyalal, Jagdish Raj and M.B. Shetty in supporting roles. Aruna Irani and Jayshree T. made a special appearance in the film.
Noted action director Veeru Devgan directed the stunts of Rahu Ketu (1978).
Printed and circulated during the first release of the film in theaters (somewhere in 1978), this Rahu Ketu poster was designed and printed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
This vintage Bollywood poster was originally designed in hand painted oil on canvas format by a leading art studio in Bombay called Trishakti. The printed stamp of the poster design studio is seen on the bottom right of this vintage Bollywood poster.
Striking hand painted portraits of all four key characters are seen in this vintage Shashi Kapoor poster. Large faces of actors Premnath and Pran are seen illustrated on the top. Symmetrically facing opposite directions, the arrangement signifies the contrast in their characters in the film. Actress Rekha appears in a stunning hand painted portrait at the center of this Rahu Ketu poster. With a strong focus on portraiture and likeness, the Bollywood poster designer depicts all three portraits using a fiery mix of colors, i.e. orange, yellow and red.
Actor Shashi Kapoor is seen in his character of a CBI inspector at the bottom in a side profile. He appears wearing a blue suit and pointing a pistol. A soothing mix of light and dark green alternating shades in a geometric pattern is seen in the background, creating the effect of a cobweb.
Typography used in this vintage Shashi Kapoor poster is entirely in Devanagari Hindi. The title of the poster is seen in a striking diagonal 3D font in yellow encased in blue at the bottom.
The soundtrack album of Rahu Ketu (1978) was composed by the hit duo Kalyanji-Anandji. It featured the memorable title track, “Main Hoon Tera Prem Aur Tum Ho Mere Pran” sung by legendary singers Mohammed Rafi and Manna Dey filmed on Premnath and Pran. “Mujhe Chhuna Na” sung by Asha Bhosle was another hit song from the film.
