Featured here is an original Bollywood poster of the 1998 blockbuster Hindi film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai written and directed by Karan Johar that starred the “Baadshah of Bollywood,” Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role opposite actress Kajol.
Produced by Yash Johar under the Dharma Productions banner, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998) also starred Rani Mukerji and Salman Khan, along with Archana Puran Singh, Anupam Kher, Farida Jalal, Reema Lagoo, Johnny Lever and Himani Shivpuri in supporting roles. Neelam Kothari, Manish Malhotra, Farah Khan, Geeta Kapur and Nikkhil Advani made special appearances in the film.
Kuch Kuch Hota Hai starred the popular on-screen pair of Shah Rukh Khan & Kajol and marked the directorial debut of Karan Johar. The film was extremely successful in India and abroad, becoming the highest grossing Indian film of the year and the third highest grossing Indian film ever behind Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! (1994) and Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995).
Kuch Kuch Hota Hai was the first Bollywood film to enter the UK cinema top ten and was the highest grossing Indian film ever outside of India, until its record was broken by Karan Johar’s next directorial, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001).
Kuch Kuch Hota Hai swept all major categories at the 1999 Filmfare Awards, becoming the third Indian film to win all four major awards (Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor and Best Actress), making this KKHH poster, highly collectible!
Printed and circulated during the film’s release run in theaters (somewhere in the late 1990s), this KKHH poster was originally designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
