This is an actual surviving original Bollywood movie poster of the 2009 Hindi comedy produced by Karan Johar and directed by Ayan Mukerji that starred Ranbir Kapoor and Konkona Sen Sharma in lead roles.

Supriya Pathak, Anupam Kher, Rahul Khanna and Kashmira Shah played supporting roles in Wake Up Sid (2009).

A coming-of-age comedy, the film was a massive critical as well as commercial success. For his stellar performance in the film, Ranbir Kapoor won Best Actor while Ayan Mukerji bagged the Best Debut Director award at the 55th Filmfare Awards, making this Wake Up Sid poster, highly collectible!

Printed and circulated during the debut of the film in theaters (somewhere in 2009), this Ranbir Kapoor poster was designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.

Released on Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday, i.e. 2 October, Wake Up Sid (2009) was shot primarily in Mumbai, with most of the film’s key scenes shot in Bandra and South Mumbai (the college scenes were shot in H.R. College of Commerce and Economics, Churchgate, Mumbai). The film was pioneering in depicting a platonic live-in relationship between the lead couple.

The protagonist Ranbir Kapoor is seen in a zen like meditative pose, seated cross legged with his hands in the gyan mudra formation. A pleasing white brick wall is seen in the background. Three stripes of color running from the wall to the floor create an interesting 3D effect and depth perspective in this Wake Up Sid poster.
