Kal Ho Naa Ho poster for sale.
Featured here is an original Bollywood poster of the super hit 2003 Hindi film written by Karan Johar and directed by Nikhil Advani that starred the “King of Bollywood” Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role along with Saif Ali Khan and Preity Zinta.
A romantic drama shot primarily in New York, Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003) also starred Jaya Bachchan, Sushma Seth, Reema Lagoo, Lillete Dubey, Delnaaz Paul, Simone Singh, Satish Shah, Rajpal Yadav and Dara Singh in supporting roles.
The film bagged several awards, most notably two National Film Awards, eight Filmfare Awards, thirteen International Indian Film Academy Awards and six Producers Guild Film Awards, making this Kal Ho Naa Ho poster, highly collectible!
Printed and circulated a few months after the first release of the film (somewhere in late 2003), this rare Shah Rukh Khan movie poster was originally designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
Stunning photographs of superstar Shah Rukh Khan, Saif Ali Khan and Preity Zinta are seen in this KHNH poster. They appear encased in individual frames. The entire poster is set against the backdrop of New York City.
Typography used in the poster is completely in English. An announcement on the top of this Bollywood poster reads, “Super Hit! A Complete Family Entertainer.” The promotional tagline of the film, “A Story of a Lifetime … In a Heartbeat” is seen written before the movie title on this Kal Ho Naa Ho poster.
Shah Rukh Khan’s character in Kal Ho Naa Ho was believed to be inspired from Rajesh Khanna’s character, Anand Saigal from Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s Anand (1971). In both films, the protagonist is depicted living life to the fullest despite being diagnosed with a terminal illness.
The soundtrack album for Kal Ho Naa Ho was composed by Shankar Ehsaan Loy with lyrics penned by Javed Akhtar. Karan Johar sought legal permission to use Roy Orbison’s 1964 song “Oh, Pretty Woman” for the film. The track was remade in Hindi as “Pretty Woman” and became an anthem of sorts during its release. The tune of the title song, “Kal Ho Naa Ho” is believed to be inspired from Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On.”
Songs from the film, most notably “It’s The Time To Disco,” “Kuch To Hua Hai” and “Pretty Woman” are fondly remembered and played till today.
