Produced by Pahlaj Nihalani under the Vishaldeep International banner, Mitti Aur Sona (1989) also starred Vinod Mehra, Pran, Prem Chopra, Gulshan Grover, Om Shivpuri, Aruna Irani, Anjana Mumtaz, Sushma Seth, Mac Mohan, Tej Sapru and Paintal in supporting roles.

A love triangle, Mitti Aur Sona (1989) told the story of a rich man (Chunky Pandey) torn between a rich girl (Neelam) and a poor orphan (Sonam).

Printed and circulated during the first release of the film in theaters (somewhere in 1989), this old Bollywood poster was designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.

This classic Chunky Pandey poster was originally designed using photographic collage techniques by a leading Bollywood movie poster design studio in Bombay called Loombarts and features stunning artwork.

A striking still photograph of Chunky Pandey is seen at the center of this classic Hindi movies poster. He appears wearing a flashy suit, with his hands on his waist. The actor is seen flanked by actresses Sonam on the left and Neelam on the right respectively. Both actresses are seen resting one foot over disco balls. Backup dancers are seen in the background. The scene is taken from the hit song, “One Two Three.” The arrangement of the three photographs suggests the love triangle theme of the film.

Supporting actors Gulshan Grover and Pran are seen on the bottom left, while Aruna Irani and Prem Chopra are seen on the bottom right.

Sonam and Aruna Irani are both seen smoking cigarettes, making this an extremely rare example of a classic Hindi movies poster that features women smoking.

Typography used in this old Chunky Pandey movie poster is entirely in English. The film’s title is seen illustrated in a stunning 3D typeface, with the word “Mitti” appearing in earthy cracked font, while “Sona” appears in shiny gold true to the meaning of the two words.

The soundtrack album of Mitti Aur Sona (1989) was composed by “Disco King” Bappi Lahiri. It featured the catchy dance song, “One Two Three Pyar Karo Ghadi Ghadi” sung by Amit Kumar & Asha Bhosle.
