Featured here is an actual surviving original vintage Bollywood poster of the 1968 musical comedy directed by Jyoti Swaroop that starred Sunil Dutt and Saira Banu in lead roles.

Produced by N.C. Sippy and Bollywood’s legendary comedian Mehmood (who also starred in the film in an unforgettable comic role), Padosan (1968) also featured legendary playback singer Kishore Kumar. Om Prakash, Mukri, Keshto Mukherjee and Agha played supporting roles in this cult classic.

Shot extensively in Brindavan Gardens near Mysore, Padosan (1968) is regarded as one of the finest soundtrack albums ever made in Indian cinema.

Printed and circulated during a subsequent release run of the film (late 1970s), this Padosan poster was originally designed for publicity of the film in north Indian theaters but never ended up being used.

This vintage Bollywood poster features quirky hand drawn artwork and was originally designed in hand painted oil on canvas format by an art studio in Delhi.

The artwork of this old Hindi movie poster designed and printed in Delhi is based on the two classic unforgettable songs from the film, “Mere Samne Wali Khidki Mein” and “Ek Chatur Naar.” A quirky portrait of Saira Banu is seen on the top. Smaller hand painted portraits of Sunil Dutt, Mehmood, Kishore Kumar & Om Prakash are seen on the bottom of this old Bollywood movie poster.

The soundtrack album of Padosan (1968) was composed by legendary composer R.D. Burman, while lyrics were written by Rajendra Krishan. It was a blockbuster hit, giving Indian cinema unforgettable songs such as “Ek Chatur Naar Karke Sringar” sung by Kishore Kumar, Manna Dey & Mehmood, “Mere Samnewali Khidki Mein,” “Kehna Hai Kehna Hai” & “Mere Bhole Balam” all sung by Kishore Kumar and “Main Chali Main Chali” sung by Asha Bhosle & Lata Mangeshkar.
