Palkon Ki Chhaon Mein poster for sale.
Featured here is an original vintage Bollywood poster of the old 1977 Hindi romantic drama directed by Meraj that starred Rajesh Khanna and Hema Malini in lead roles.
Produced by Nariman Baria and A. Khalia under the Nav Sampati Productions banner, Palkon Ki Chhaon Mein (1977) also featured Amjad Khan, Asrani, Farida Jalal, Kanhaiyalal, Leela Mishra, Pratima Devi, Dhumal, Shahid Bijnori and Sunder in supporting roles. Jeetendra, Rekha, Aruna Irani, Om Shivpuri and Indrani Mukherjee made special appearances in the film.
Written by Gulzar, Palkon Ki Chhaon Mein (1977) told the beautiful story of a postman (Rajesh Khanna) who falls in love with a woman (Hema Malini) waiting for her lover’s letter. Although the film was a box office failure, it has gained critical acclaim over the years and went on to inspire the hit film, Welcome to Sajjanpur (2008).
Printed and circulated during the first release of the film in theaters (somewhere in 1977), this vintage Bollywood poster was issued for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
This Palkon Ki Chhaon Mein poster was originally designed in hand painted oil on canvas format by Bombay based Bollywood poster design studio Achalart.
A stunning hand drawn illustration of superstar Rajesh Khanna is seen prominently in a side profile on the right of this old Bollywood poster. The Bollywood poster artist captures likeness in his face to perfection, while highlighting the confusions that his character is going through.
Actress Hema Malini is illustrated in a striking large close up in the background, with her shy gaze captured perfectly. She appears in her character of a simple village girl. Amjad Khan, who plays a horse carriage driver in the film, is seen in a smaller hand painted portrait at the bottom left of this Palkon Ki Chhaon Mein movie poster.
Typography used in this old Rajesh Khanna poster is primarily in English, with the title translated to Devanagari Hindi as well on the top left. The main English title appears in dark blue highlighted with a light blue border standing out against a minimal white background.
The soundtrack album of Palkon Ki Chhaon Mein (1977) was composed by Laxmikant-Pyarelal, while lyrics were written by Gulzar. It featured the hit song, “Daakiya Daak Laya” sung by Kishore Kumar.
