This is an actual surviving original movie poster of the super hit 1994 Bengali drama directed by Prabhat Roy.

Sandhyatara starred Debashree Roy, Uttam Mohanty, Sabyasachi Chakraborty, Santu Mukhopadhyay, Arun Mukhopadhyay, Sumitra Mukhopadhyay, Haradhan Bandyopadhyay, Manoj Mitra, Master Bittu, Master Debajna and Sayan Sen.

Sandhyatara, which translates as “Evening Star,” was hugely successful owing to its strong emotional content. The film explored changing family relationships and equations as parents age.

Printed and circulated during the theatrical run of the film (somewhere in 1994), this old Bengali film poster was originally designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.

This Sandhyatara poster was originally hand painted on canvas by a poster design studio in Kolkata. An announcement on the top features the release date of the film on Friday in the month of April and declares it as a “Super Hit Bangla Movie.”

The text that follows credits the star cast of the film below the title. The name of the theater and its show timings are mentioned at the bottom of this old Bengali film poster.
